Smart Brainwork Test and Analysis: Enhance your Team’s Cognitive Efficiency with Brain Researcher, PhD Mona Moisala
The Smart Brainwork test - created by Doctor of Psychology and Brain Expert Mona Moisala and Satama Life experts Saara Reiman and Eppu Sorell - helps measure your workplace’s cognitive efficiency and brain-health level.
The video below is currently in Finnish. We will make an English version shortly.
How to improve the cognitive abilities of your team or organization?
The Smart Brainwork test and analysis gives a comprehensive view of your team’s cognitive efficiency. It offers valuable insight into which factors most influence the quality of knowledge work in your team or work community. The test enables to identify the most important action points that improve the brain-friendliness and efficiency of your culture and working habits. In brief, the test is an excellent tool for supporting the cognitive abilities of your organization.
The test and the subsequent analysis dive into the most critical factors shaping the quality of knowledge work in your organisation: focus, brain recovery, emotions and decision-making as well as the potential of diverse cognitive styles. It has been developed based on Moisalas's book Tyhmä Työelämä.
By doing the test, your organization will gain valuable insight into which aspects of your work culture and habits foster brain health and efficient cognitive work and which areas your employees or team members would need more support in.
The test can be used to measure your entire organisation or a specific team, managers or your leadership group. It helps the whole workplace recognise its current level of brain health and productivity and allows individual teams to pinpoint the areas where targeted improvements will boost cognitive well-being and the output of knowledge work even further.
How your organization or team can benefit from the test?
The test maps your organisation’s current state of knowledge work and offers clear, concrete steps for improving it.
Completing the short test helps employees reflect their own work habits and how these affect their brain health. The test also offers a snapshot of the current state of cognitive work across the entire organisation, among managers, or within a specific team.

Benefits for a leader, manager, HR-professional and single employee
The Smart Brainwork test supports individual employees, leaders, and supervisors in building a smarter, more brain-friendly, and more productive work culture for themselves and colleagues.
Individual employees can reflect on their own work habits, while leadership and managers receive valuable data on how to develop the overall work culture and most important areas of knowledge work.
Based on the test results, we can also offer an analysis meeting with the leaders responsible for culture development - or a customised webinar or workshop for your staff or team - in which brain expert, PhD Mona Moisala walks you through the findings and practical ways to improve your workplace and work habits.

Practical help for
improving cognitive work
”The Smart Brainwork test and associated workshop by Mona Moisala gave us visibility into the current state of our cognitive work and helps us better plan how we can work smarter and support one another better. That is tremendously important, because employees who work smart are every organisation’s and team’s most valuable resource.
The test and analysis brought us concrete benefits, and based on the data Mona was able to tailor a presentation designed precisely for us. In addition, the test helped people reflect on the topic in advance, so they were well prepared for the workshop and ensuing cultural work. This combination has received a great deal of praise from our staff; here’s one example: ‘Sometimes speakers feel a bit “fluffy,” but Mona’s talk spoke directly to our own work and gave me concrete tools I can use in my job!’”

Practical solutions for
achieving development goals
“One of the eight pillars of our action plan and strategy is to develop good leadership and an attractive workplace. We wanted to find out what practical measures we should take to advance this within our organisation.
The Smart Brainwork approach was excellent: Mona’s research background and experience in developing workplaces was very credible, which meant our specialists embraced the topic enthusiastically. The test and analysis were highly concrete: we quickly reached a shared understanding of which areas are already working well and which demand urgent improvement.
Instead of a long list of things that would be ‘nice to develop,’ we were able to focus on the issues that matter most in our internal work.”

Feedback from Mona's lecture
”Mona’s talk at DNA Learning Hour offered a wealth of practical tips for our knowledge workers’ day-to-day routines—especially from the perspective of brain recovery and improving brain health. Her convincing, clear delivery made the session both impactful and easy to absorb. A special thanks for tailoring the content to our staff using the Smart Brainwork -test, giving us targeted, genuinely useful insights and tools we can put into practice.”
How does the test work in practice?
The test is easy to implement:
After an initial meeting with a member of the Satama Life team, you’ll receive a dedicated link for your workplace or team through which employees can take the test anonymously.
For the employees the test takes five minutes to complete and helps them reflect on their own work habits as well as the team culture. Using the results and data, we produce an analysis - see the example above - of your organisation’s current cognitive-work status, pinpointing its strengths and areas for improvement.
After completing the test, your employees will also receive a personalized tip from Mona that they can benefit from immediately in their own work.
The test can be done in Finnish or English (other languages also possible).
